Mumbai (Times Of Maharashtra) :- In the heart of Mumbai’s vibrant suburb of Vasai, where dreams often take root amid everyday hustle, a quiet revolution was brewing—not in courtrooms, despite the family’s legal legacy, but on the runway. My name is Mrs. Tejashree Ajinkya Vanmali, and this is my journey from grief to grace, from a devoted homemaker and artist to a pageant crown contender at the age of 53.
The Artist, the Mother, the Dreamer
I come from a humble middle-class family with four siblings. Art has always been the rhythm of my soul. I graduated as a textile designer from the prestigious J.J. School of Arts, Mumbai University. Over the years, I nurtured my passion as an artist and educator, establishing my own art school and raising three incredible sons. My life was a canvas filled with creativity, motherhood, and purpose.
I married into a family deeply rooted in law—my husband, father-in-law, and brothers-in-law all practicing lawyers. I embraced my new life with pride, becoming the pillar of a household built on discipline, dignity, and knowledge. My days were full—raising my sons, supporting my husband, and weaving my identity around home and art.
My three boys have grown into remarkable young men. My eldest is a lawyer at 21, my second is pursuing Company Secretary and law, and my youngest, still in 11th grade, is a passionate football player with over 15 medals and 3 trophies to his name. Watching them grow filled my heart with joy and purpose.
The Turning Point: Loss and Rediscovery
Then came the darkest chapter. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, I lost my husband—the cornerstone of my life. His sudden passing left a void no words can fill. I felt numb, directionless, like the color had drained from the painting of my life. But in that darkness, my sons became my guiding light. They reminded me who I was—not just a widow or a mother, but a woman of strength, art, and untapped dreams.
I began small—following YouTube fitness videos at home, trying to reclaim a sense of control over my body and mind. Slowly, as my physical strength returned, so did my will. I joined a local fitness community, and that changed everything. With each workout, I wasn’t just building muscle—I was rebuilding myself.
From Healing to the Heels
As my spirit revived, a long-held dream stirred within me: the dream to walk the ramp, to be seen, to shine. I began modeling at the age of 53—an age when society often tells women to step back. But I stepped forward. I immersed myself in everything the world of pageantry had to offer—fitness, nutrition, skincare, grooming, and most importantly, mindset.
The Mrs. DIVA India Pageant welcomed me not just as a contestant, but as a woman of substance. I participated with sincerity and style and was crowned in the Talent Round and honored with the Elegance Crown—titles that recognized not just performance, but inner poise, and perseverance.
Why This Crown Matters
Winning or losing is secondary. What matters is the woman I’ve become through this journey. I’m no longer just a mother, widow, or teacher. I am a living testament to the idea that age is not a barrier; it’s a badge of resilience.
My goal now is bigger than a crown—I want to represent India on an international platform, to show the world that Indian women are fierce, fearless, and forever ready to rise. I want my sons to see that strength comes in many forms—and that dreams delayed are never dreams denied.

To every woman reading this, especially those who’ve spent decades putting others first: your time can begin now. Whether you’re 35 or 65, your dreams are valid, your beauty is real, and your strength is unmatched.
You are never too old to chase new dreams. The right time is whenever you decide to begin.
I didn’t just walk a ramp—I walked through grief, through self-doubt, through reinvention. And I emerged not just as a pageant queen, but as the most powerful version of myself.
So wear your scars like medals, your wisdom like a crown, and your story like a torch—for you never know who you’re inspiring just by rising.
